Funeral for Bishop Carroll, December 1925. In the Fall of 1925, while in a trip to Europe with his sister, Anna McDermott, the Bishop suddenly became ill in Fribourg, Switzerland. Although his health seemed to improve briefly, on November 3 he suffered a major stroke and died early the next morning—November 4, the feast day for St. Charles Borromeo.
